[Event] The Morgath Bible

  • [Event] The Morgath Bible

To honour our great creator Morgath and remember his sacrifices, the Morgath priests gather regularly once a year.

To reach their place of worship, they make a long and solitary pilgrimage, in which they bless the brave Osiras they meet.

Unfortunately this year, the Great Morgath Priest was assaulted by Shax on the road!

He made it safe and sound thanks to his dragon, but the unique relic he was holding didn't:

    The Morgath Bible.

It fell on the ground and was badly damaged during the battle. Now in pieces, with only a few pages intact, the great priest is in trouble.

The end of the pilgrimage is near and Morgath awaits the ceremonial readings!

The Great Morgath Priest is in need of the courageous Osirans he used to bless so eagerly!

He is too old now and his sight bad so that he cannot restore the bible himself.

If Morgath is not satisfied with the bible restoration, the Osira won't get his drop bonus, which they need to fight against the Shax!

Fortunately, the great dragon of creation isn't picky: he likes anything that sounds nice, no matter what form the poem takes.

Osiras, here is your quest if you're willing to accept it:

Help the great priest to restore the bible by writing poems to Morgath's glory !

Each poem will extend the Morgath's benediction by 20 minutes. Osira, how long will you be able to make the 100% drop bonus last?

    Tract from the Morgath Bible

Once created by wisdom and power

Gifted to another in his dying hour

Two old friends in constant war

The power for Kronos, ever wanting more

With Kronos awakened, the soul devourer

The call is heeded in this fateful hour

The osiran awakens through morgaths might

Preparing to finish this infernal fight

The victory over Kronos, with great sacrifice

Now it's your turn to share morgaths light

    Event rules:

    • the poems have to be devoted to Morgath, his actions or story.
    • only one poem per player is allowed!
    • minimum of 30 words per poem
    • the poem style is free for you to choose
    • add name and server of your character you want to participate with
    • no plagiarism allowed!

The event duration will be from Wednesday, 7th November until 13th November 23:59 CET.

After reviewing the poems and counting, Morgath will grand his 100% drop bonus on the weekend of the 16th.

How long the drop bonus will be, will be announced separately later on.

  • Then I must be very brave and start us off. Perhaps this is not the usual biblical style, but the rules did say we were free to choose...

    A Cautionary Limerick

There once was a dragon called Morgath,

Whose people set out on the warpath.

    They battled the Shax,

    Using staff, bow, and axe,

But they won only after a bloodbath.

  • And now for something completely different:

    Paean to Morgath

Your shimmering scales uncoiled from the chaos before time

as dragonkind arose from the darkness

    and you envisioned light.

    You

    shaped dreams into a world

    in the shelter of your wings;

with shining claws sculpted the mountains

    and tore open the valleys;

    breathed

    and caused water to coalesce.

The fog of your breath shed pearly rain upon the world

and it flowed into the rivers and oceans.

Your beating wings drove the winds into motion,

caressing the softening stones of newborn Auratia.

    And then you walked

and where your scales scraped the earth

    it blossomed.

Trees burrowed roots into your clawprints

    and stretched their arms toward

the sweet winds of your wings.

But the world lay still, cradled in the roiling darkness,

    and grew cold.

You swept your glowing gaze across the nascent realm,

driving it into motion with the force of your vision,

and saw shadows lying heavy under the swirling sky.

    So you

    arched your great neck upwards

and exhaled a long and ardent plume of flame

    into the heavens

    and molded there the stars,

coaxed with the curve of your tail the sun, most radiant,

    closer to your creation

to warm and nourish the earth.

Yet night fell on the far side of the world

lit only by the pale and distant stars.

So at last you stretched your mighty arm into the chaos,

took hold of the wailing void,

    and squeezed

until you held in your claws' grasp

    that silv'ry gem, the moon,

which you set in Auratia's sky

to reflect the light of the sun

    even into the darkest night.

Praise and thanks be to Morgath,

    creator of Auratia.

  • Oh Morgath,

Creator of our world and surrounding heavens

It is for you we mourn

    It is you we reverend

You sacrificed much to overcome darkness

    You foresaw our future

    would evolve into chaos

Kronos’ defection would wrench us apart

    You heard our cries and

    peered deep into our hearts

    We yearned for your wisdom

as we appealed to you in prayer

Only you, mighty Morgath, could truly fathom

  • Culpability

No entity lives without flaw, nor can he at all things be great.

So pity Morgath, give him due, for all the world did he create.

For earth and seas, the plants, the trees, our very home in which we dwell,

Give thanks to Morgath, praise him high, despite the depths to which we fell.

To further finish off the world, our Morgath chose to delegate,

To lesser Dragons gave the task, the verdant world to populate.

Great Kronos the Osirans made, and others beasts to share the earth.

The dragons started all that led to fates and deeds of mighty worth.

But Morgath saw a future bleak, and long he sought to find a way

To save the world from darkness dire and bring us safely back to day.

Before his death and dying breath, bequeathed he two parts of his mind

He split his strength from wisdom then, two archives of a special kind.

To Kronos Morgath gave his strength, but left no wisdom for his guide.

Our devastation came from this, a fatal flaw we must abide.

To fight the dark Osirans joined, the dragons to their dwindling ranks.

This saved the world, at least for now; for this to Morgath we give thanks.

  • Before

    All was chaos

    Before

    All was darkness

    Before

    All was silence

    Then, in the maelstrom

    A light

    A sound

    “I am.”

    Wings unfurled

    Claws crooked

    Tails snapped

    Eyes glowed

    Thunder rolled

    Through the heavens

    Born of a mighty breast

    Carried on mighty breath

    Chaos became Order

    Dark became Light

    Silence became Sound

    “This is Auratia.”

    And so it was.
